Bill Dehal: Kitchen Remodeling Ideas

Bill Dehal: Do you have proven DIY skills and you feel confident to take on a kitchen remodeling project of your own? We're here to encourage you and to give you some jaw-dropping ideas. The things you can do yourself don't have to be of 'low level'. You can go past what's ordinary and surprise yourself and the others with a new kitchen look that feels like it has the touch of an interior designer.

One Brilliant Way to Use Mirrors

You may have never seen this as appropriate, but mirrors do have a place in the kitchen. Here's something simple and with splendid results that you can do at any time:

  • Cover in mirror the entire backsplash surface. It's going to 'expand the space' and might even boost the light in the room if it catches enough.

  • You're going to feel great when using the countertops or the sink.

  • The style of your kitchen doesn't matter – plain simple mirrors work regardless.

Stack the Cabinets

Most people have small enough kitchens and space is always a problem. Don't be afraid to stack a few rows of cabinets on top of each other. As long as you find matching ones, you won't have to modify the furniture or anything else that gets too complicated. You'll get plenty of new storage spaces and it will look great. Bill Dehal's company services (home remodeling) many times included the placing of cabinets. It was Bill Dehal himself to speak on the huge difference that the stacked ones made.

Change the Paint for the Desired Effect

Struggling with a small kitchen? After you've planned all the needed and doable modifications, it's time to think about the new colors. Refurbish everything you can. Paint the furniture and the walls in very light, soft colors. This will create the illusion of a bigger space. Also, if you want the 'cool down' effect because the kitchen tends to get too hot, you'll obviously want to use cold or neutral colors instead of warm ones.

There's More to Kitchen Seating

Nowadays, kitchens exhibit so many welcome varieties of seating. Especially if you have little available room, you can replace the classical chairs with backless stools or similar simple, smaller pieces. Or, you may create a whole seating area to surround a table by setting benches with cushions directly onto the wall.

Open Shelves Instead of Cabinets

It's understandable, not everyone is a fan of kitchen cabinets. Besides, some small kitchens may not manage to accommodate these. In this case, you have the option of open shelving. It's airy and lets you expose some beautiful crockery. Reorganize all the contents of the kitchen and place the smallest and prettiest items at these upper levels, storing the rest of essentials underneath, in cabinets.

Have an Accent Wall of Your Choice

If your kitchen is otherwise simple, an accent wall will stand out and embellish it. It can be covered in wallpaper, artwork or wooden panels. It depends what suits the ensemble better. Make it a match to the ambiance of the kitchen, so that it doesn't clash with the other design elements.

These are little things you can change yourself to enjoy a fantastic kitchen makeover. With such simple tricks, you may realize you don't have to make too spectacular or ample changes when remodeling a kitchen.
